TARC and MDC expression in pancreatic islets and lymph nodes of prediabetic NOD mice. (a) The CCR4 ligand TARC was expressed at low levels by infiltrating cells (right, arrow) in pancreatic islets of 10- to 14-week-old prediabetic NOD mice, but not in the normal islets of 6- to 8-week-old NOD mice (left). (b) MDC was distinctly expressed in the panLN’s of NOD/shi mice (right), but not in B57BL/6 NOD mice (left). Arrows indicate MDC-positive cells in the T cell area (T) but not in the follicle (F). (c) MDC was strongly expressed in pancreatic islets of MDC-TG mice (right), but not in non-TG NOD mice (left).
