JCI will be Gold Open Access starting in 2022

The American Society for Clinical Investigation is pleased to announce that the Journal of Clinical Investigation will be Gold Open Access effective with the Journal’s first issue in 2022.

The ASCI, consistent with its nonprofit mission, has been committed to providing free, immediate access to all research published in the JCI since the journal first appeared online in 1996.^1,2 However, non-research content, such as reviews and commentaries, has required a subscription to access.³ Starting in 2022, all content will be freely available and published with the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY)  license.

With this change, both journals that the ASCI owns and publishes — JCI and JCI Insight — will be Gold Open Access and fully Plan S compliant.
