Controlling conduction in the AV node
False-colored electron micrograph of ventricular myocardium from a mouse deficient in the coxsackievirus and adenovirus receptor (CAR). CAR is a transmembrane protein localized at the intercalated disc. Lim and colleagues demonstrate that complete block of atrio-ventricular conduction develops in the absence of CAR.
