Hereditary prostate cancer, a newly described variant of prostate cancer, is distinguished by
early age at onset and autosomal dominant inheritance within families. 1 We review the
epidemiological features of hereditary prostate cancer, our clinical findings and data
concerning associations with other tumors. The implications of these findings for clinical
urologists are discussed in addition to areas for future research in the molecular genetics of
prostate cancer.
