Events—The cloning of enzymes that clear ceramide such as GCS and CDases (1, 2), the
generation of knock-out mice in acid SMase (13), and the development/discovery of specific
inhibitors of enzymes of ceramide generation (myriocin/ISP1 for SPT and fumonisin B1 for
