In congenital Chuvash polycythemia (CP), VHL R200W homozygosity leads to elevated
hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) levels at normoxia. CP is often treated by phlebotomy resulting
in iron deficiency, permitting us to examine the separate and synergistic effects of iron
