The morphology of the normal human rectal biopsy

S Eidelman, D Lagunoff - Human pathology, 1972 - Elsevier
The ultrastructure of cells of the lamina propria and the submucosa has been examined in
suction biopsies of normal rectal mucosa. This study provides a standard of normality for the
analysis of pathologic variation. The variety of cell types available, the ease of biopsy, and
the quality of preparations obtainable recommend the rectum as a site for ultrastructural
investigation of human cells in health and disease.
