Malignant ascites in association with peritoneal carcinomatosis occurs in advanced stages
of various primary tumors. The accumulation of proteinrich fluid within the peritoneal cavity
results from disseminated tumor growth on the peritoneal surface and capillary leakage. The
intraperitoneal fluid accumulation may cause severe symptoms such as dyspnea, abdominal
pain, ureteral obstruction, and bowel ileus, requiring effective treatment for palliation.
