We first proposed that the group of aspirinlike drugs exert their therapeutic (and possibly side-) effects through inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis in 1971 [3]. Since then, there has been a considerable development in our knowledge about aspirin and prostaglandins, almost all of it either supporting or developing the theory [4, 5]. To summarize:
