Notch signalling plays pivotal roles in development and homeostasis of all metazoan
species. Notch is a receptor molecule that directly translates information of cell–cell contact
to gene expression in the nucleus. Mastermind is a conserved and essential nuclear factor
that supports the activity of Notch. Here, the past and current studies of the interplay between
these factors are reviewed.
