3 boys with granulomatous disease of childhood are described. Earlier investigations have
not re-vealed the nature of the defect which leads to the chronic granulomatous disease in
these children. The survival of Staphylococcus aureus and Aerobacter aerogenes incubated
in the presence of peripheral white blood-cells from our patients has been studied. The
leukocytes of the patients with the granulomatosis seem to be capable of phagocytosis but
defective in ability to kill or digest micro-organisms.
