EMT/MET occur when tissues are being built or remodeled. Hence, EMT/MET are involved
in (1) embryogenesis/development,(2) wound healing/tissue regeneration/organ fibrosis,
and (3) neoplasia. Because the context and consequences of EMT/MET differ in these three
settings, consensus is emerging that EMTs are best classified into three different biological
