The pathological spectrum of diffuse axonal injury in blunt head trauma: assessment with axon and myelin stains

Although diffuse axonal injury (DAI) has been described as a major form of primary damage
to the brain in blunt head injury, there has been no systematic study of the pathological
changes in different regions of the brain. In this study, 22 cases of DAI were
comprehensively examined histologically in the following areas: corpus callosum, internal
capsule, superior cerebellar peduncles, cerebral white matter, fornix, rostral brain stem and
