CONTEXT: Low oxygen saturation appears to decrease the risk of severe retinopathy of
prematurity (ROP) in preterm newborns when administered during the first few weeks after
birth. High oxygen saturation seems to reduce the risk at later postmenstrual ages (PMAs).
