BACKGROUND: Statins are used in orthotopic heart transplant (OHT) recipients to avoid
acute rejection episodes (ARE) during the first year after surgery and coronary vasculopathy
(CAV) thereafter as established in prospective randomized trials, yielding the grounds for the
