BACKGROUND: Methotrexate (MTX) is a folate analogue used in the treatment of moderate
to severe psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It oppositely affects inflammation and
hyperhomocysteinemia—two independent risk factors for vascular disease. To date, there
