Abstract Background Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) replication increases the risk of Kaposi
sarcoma (KS). Highly-active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) reduces the incidence of KS, and
regimens that contain protease inhibitors (PIs) may be particularly effective. Objective To
