Transgenic mice lacking receptor protein tyrosine phophatase-σ (RPTPσ), a type IIa receptor
protein tyrosine phosphatase, exhibit severe neural developmental deficits. Continued
expression of RPTPσ in the adult suggests that it plays a functional role in the mature
