Premenstrual exacerbation of bulimia: 60% increase in the mean number of binge episodes

WA Price, MS Torem, LR Dimarzio - Psychosomatics, 1987 - Elsevier
All ten women in this two-month self-report study, who met DSM-III criteria for bulimia,
recorded increased binge eating in the premenstrual period as compared with the menstrual
period. A similar exacerbation of bulimia has not previously been reported. The authors
propose that behavioral treatment for bulimic patients take account of this variation in binge
eating.
