Hormones regulate glucose homeostasis, in part, by controlling the expression of
gluconeogenic enzymes, such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK). Insulin
and glucocorticoids reciprocally regulate PEPCK expression primarily at the level of gene
transcription. We demonstrate here that glucocorticoids promote, whereas insulin disrupts,
