Discussion 2, 4-dinitrofluorobenzene is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of
pesticides (algicides) and some pharmaceuticals such as flurbiprofen (an NSAID). It is also
used as a sensitizing agent and hapten in laboratory immunology and as a reagent
(Sanger's reagent) to identify the terminal amino acids in a protein chain (1, 2).
