Method of Preparation.-For macroscopic specimens for dissection a modification of
Kaiserling's method was used. The great advantage of this method is that the natural colour
of the muscle fibres returns after fixation, thereby rendering easier the dissection of the
different systems of muscle fibres. The procedure is as follows (1) The heart must be well
washed in running water for 12 hours prior to fixation, andthe cavities stuffed with tow or
cotton-wool.(2) The specimen is then fixed in the following solution: Formalin, 200 cc
