The cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p27 Kip1 is degraded in a phosphorylation-and
ubiquitin-dependent way upon cell-cycle entry. p45 SKP2, the adaptor subunit of the
ubiquitin–protein ligase SCF SKP2, may mediate recognition and ubiquitination of
phosphorylated p27 Kip1.
