Background: Antibodies to complexes of heparin and platelet factor 4 (PF4) are capable of
causing heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). Recent evidence suggests that anti‐
PF4/heparin antibodies may be prothrombogenic even in the absence of thrombocytopenia
