Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are multifunctional growth factors belonging to the
transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) superfamily. Recent observations clearly emphasize the
emerging role of BMPs in angiogenesis:(i) two genetic vascular diseases (hereditary
hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH)) are caused
