Leptin is an adipocyte-derived hormone with potent weight reducing effects. Genetically
obese rodents with mutations of leptin or the leptin receptor are defective in leptin signaling
and develop morbid obesity and diabetes. Interestingly, the levels of both leptin mRNA and
