Abstract
Data are given for growth of rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta} from birth to 7 years of age. The number of animals available for study varied from 157 during infancy to 27 at the end of the seventh year. The weight and sitting height of each animal were measured monthly beyond one year of age and more frequently in the first year.
Both males and females showed a high rate of growth at birth, which was greater for artificially fed young than for nurslings. The rate of growth fell off in the first 6 months and then increased again at about 2 years for females and 2 1/2 years for males; the time for individual females varied with the time taken to reach maturity. Males grew more rapidly than females at all ages, and continued to grow for a longer time. I. McDonald.
