The physiology of mineralocorticoid action, particularly with respect to epithelial sodium
transport, is well defined. A full understanding of the molecular basis of mineralocorticoid
action has however proven to be more elusive. In the last decade insights into structural and
functional aspects of the mineralocorticoid receptor combined with emerging details of the
