Background On pathophysiologic grounds, fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by a deficit in
diffuse noxious inhibitory controls (DNIC), but the role of depressive symptoms on these
mechanisms has not been investigated. We hypothesized that the deficit in pain inhibition
