Publisher Summary Lymphocytes have been generated from embryonic stem (ES) cells by
two main approaches. The first involves differentiation of ES cells into hematopoietic
progenitors in vitro followed by adoptive transfer of these progenitors into recipient mice.
Lymphocytes are generated in vitro by coculturing the ES cells on the stromal cell line, OP9,
which was derived from the bone marrow of op/op mice that are deficient for macrophage-
