Materials and Methods We conducted a retrospective chart review of 487 patients with IPF
who had been seen at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, during the period January 1, 1994,
to December 31, 1996. Patients who had undergone transthoracic echocardiograms with the
measurement of systolic pulmonary artery pressure (SPAP) within 3 months of the initial
