Tissue factor (TF, CD142 [1]) initiates blood clotting through interaction with factor (F)
VII/VIIa. TF is also known to participate in signal transduction, angiogenesis, embryogenesis,
or tumor metastasis [2±6]. Among the leukocytes, only monocytes have been reported to
express TF, but others, neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes) or lymphocytes, have
