Objective To establish a role for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) during the onset
and clinical course of neovascularization of the iris (NVI) in ischemic central retinal vein
occlusion. Methods Sixteen patients with ischemic central retinal vein occlusion were
followed up for 12 months by clinical examination, retinal and iris angiography, and serial
