Diabetes mellitus affects all parts of the gastrointestinal tract, 37.., 2 but the clinician should
bear in mind that involvement of the gut frequently causes no clinical manifestations at all. In
fact clinical manifestations of the derangements which result from diabetes mellitus occur in
