Background/Aims: Hepatic stellate cells (HSC) are commonly considered the precursor
population of septal myofibroblasts (MF) in cirrhosis. We studied the distribution and
expression profile of mesenchymal (myo) fibroblast-like populations in fibrotic and cirrhotic
