OBJECTIVE: Human blood platelets are easily available physiologic target cells for
thrombopoietin (TPO). TPO up-regulates platelet aggregation and α-granule secretion
induced by various agonists. We investigated the role of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase
(PI3K) and its association with Gab1 in TPO-mediated up-regulation of platelet function.
