Modelling the human immune response: can mice be trusted?

The mouse is now the animal of choice for laboratory-based medical research. Although its
contribution to advancing understanding of our inner workings is indisputable, we should
acknowledge that mice and humans are tangibly different. This article highlights, and
attempts some rationale for, discrepancies between the two species' immune systems.
