A method has been developed for the rapid diagnosis of metabolic diseases based on the
analysis of characteristic metabolites in body fluids by fast atom bombardment or liquid
secondary ion tandem mass spectrometry (FAB-MS—MS or LSIMS—MS). Acylcarnitine
