Objectives To review the role of tissue factor-dependent coagulation in acute lung injury. To
interpret preclinical and clinical data on therapeutic intervention of the coagulation cascade,
focusing on the principles of proteolytic cell signaling of the coagulant and anticoagulant
pathways.
