Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a rare dis-ease of unknown etiology manifesting as an
episodic, yet generally progressive, inflamma-tion of cartilagenous structures throughout the
body, plus recurrent inflammation of special sense organs including the eye and ear. The
first recognizable reported case is that by Jaksch-Wartenhorst in 1923 (49). Little attention
