Hypothesized that obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) patients should exhibit deficient
sensorimotor gating as assessed by prepulse inhibition (PPI). Data from 11 OCD patients
(aged 29–63 yrs) and 13 controls indicate that OCD Ss exhibit psychophysiological
evidence of impaired sensorimotor gating. Results suggest that the symptomatic loss of
cognitive inhibition of thoughts in OCD may be accompanied by significant disruptions of
