The link between serum insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and postmenopausal
osteoporosis remains controversial. In this study of healthy postmenopausal women,
decreased serum concentrations of IGF-1 were strongly associated with an increased risk of
osteoporotic fractures indedepently of bone-mineral density.
