1. In a series of young Syrian hamsters the application to the buccal pouch of 0.5 per cent
DMBA and 1 per cent croton oil resulted in a retardation of carcinogenesis when compared
to the application of 0.5 per cent DMBA alone. 2.2. In a series of older Syrian hamsters the
application to the buccal pouch of 0.5 per cent DMBA and 1 per cent croton oil resulted in an
enhancement of carcinogenesis when compared to the application of 0.5 per cent DMBA
alone.
