Sj6gren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disorder involving the production of
autoantibodies to ribonucleoprotein (RNP) particles Ro/SSA and La/SSB. Lymphocytic
infiltrates from sub-labial salivary gland biopsies (SSGBs) and the occurrence of these
autoantibodies in peripheral blood have attained a central role in the diagnosis of this
autoimmune exocrinopathy.
