Production of lymphocytosis by polysaccharide polysulphates (heparinoids)

IT was recently reported1–3 that the administration of heparin can evoke lymphocytosis in
experimental animals. It has now been found (Table 1) that a lymphocytosis can be
produced by many heparinoid compounds. It is thus possible to gain more information to
elucidate the mechanism of the lymphocytotic effect, by using synthetic polysaccharide
sulphates of various molecular sizes, shapes, and degrees of esterification.
