We studied the role of FAD in the intramitochondrial folding and assembly of medium-chain
acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD), a homotetrameric mitochondrial enzyme containing a
molecule of non-covalently bound FAD/monomer. In the MCAD molecule, FAD is buried in a
