Thrombospondin (TSP) is a cell and matrix glycoprotein that interacts with a variety of
molecules. Newly synthesized thrombospondin is either incorporated into the extracellular
matrix, or binds to the cell surface where it is rapidly internalized and degraded (McKeown-
