Infants born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia have a high mortality which is essentially
due to the associated lung hypoplasia. However, there have been several recent
innovations, both in the surgical approach and in techniques of neonatal intensive care,
which have improved the outlook for some of these critically ill infants.
