METHODS The density of serum was raised by the addition of concentrated salt solution.
The stock salt solution con-tained 153.0 gin. sodium chloride and 354.0 gm. potassium
bromide per liter (density: 1.346). Solutions of lower density were prepared by dilution of the
stock solution with 0.15 M sodium chloride solution (density: 1.005) according to the formula:
