Apolipoprotein (apo) E3Leiden is a dysfunctional apo E variant associated with familial
dysbetalipoproteinemia in humans. Transgenic mice carrying the APOE3Leiden gene
develop hyperlipidemia and are highly susceptible to diet-induced atherosclerosis. An early
